A Beautiful Weekend

This weekend was beautiful. The weather, the company, the conversations etc! I love it when weekends feel like they just last forever and after the weekend is over you feel filled to the top with rest and love! Friday night included great conversation and interesting food. Saturday included a 5k and much needed girl time. Saturday night we celebrated a friends birthday early (because I know summer birthdays are always forgotten and I wanted her to feel special) and we sat outside on the patio under the stars with twinkly lights and tiki torches. Key lime pie, chocolate cake and blowing out birthday candles ended the night while we watched a great old movie, "The Green Card."

Sunday we slept in and made it to the dogwood festival, a huge art festival in downtown Atlanta in the middle of Piedmont Park. We enjoyed seeing all the amazing talent, gorgeous weather and incredibly unhealthy fair food. After our company left I fell into the bed happy and exhuasted from our fun filled weekend with company.
Allen and I spent the remainder of our Sunday night cooking dinner and relaxing around the house. I am so excited about the rest of this month and the months to come!

T-Bone

This was taken back in March and I just love it. I think it catches my mom's sense of humor in a wonderful way. She has a great laugh!!

Before we ever dated...

This is what Allen looked like. He had some BIG hair. The night this picture was taken was the first time we had ever spent time together alone, apart from a big group. He brought over Chinese (which a few years later would become our neighborhood Chinese restaurant) and I straightened out his hair because it was mega curly. We stayed up until the sun came up. We talked, we watched a movie, we talked, we laughed we had so much fun getting to know each other. We drove over to a high point in Atlanta at dawn and watched the sunrise. Then we went to waffle house and had breakfast together - by this time our extreme tiredness had set in so we were laughing at every single thing. He drove me back home and I fell asleep on the couch totally smitten.

What a stud muffin.

Carpenter Bees

This past week was my spring break. It was much needed and much enjoyed. Yesterday, my first day back I felt like I was in a fog. By 6pm I was almost delirious I was so tired. I am sure my CPA thought that I was on drugs or something. Its amazing how fast your body and mind get used to sleeping in. I really enjoyed the sleeping in part. I loved waking up, making coffee and then sitting on the front porch swing and enjoying the birds and the coffee and Maggie running around her new front yard. I discovered that there is a wren's nest for perfect viewing if you sit on the swing. I would watch the wren fly away and then come back to nest. I would listen to all the different birds and the weather was just perfect. I also discovered we have a lot of carpenter bees. It is so cool to watch them just hover and they will get so so close to you. Maggie will stand really still when one is close by and then she will jump up and eat it. After about 2 seconds she releases it from her mouth and they fly away.

This morning was not like that morning. It was a good morning, enough time to get ready and make coffee and talk to allen for a little while before I left. I didn't rush or feel rushed. I just miss that porch swing and the time to listen to my thoughts and be still. And honestly, I could still have that time. Its just hard to move myself from my warm and comfortable bed :)

12 Things I learned over spring break

Here are 12 things I learned over spring break in no particular order...

  1. We have a dogwood tree in our front yard
  2. I like babganoush
  3. In our neighborhood there is a hoarder. His name is Harold. People refer to him as "Harold the hoarder." His front yard is where he hoards.
  4. If you don't tell someone where you are moving on purpose they will still find out.
  5. I really love the summertime
  6. Taking curtains down is defiantly not as fun as hanging them up
  7. The social security office can be an easy experience
  8. God knew what he was doing when he moved me to Atlanta.
  9. Our roof has a teeny tiny leak. Thank goodness for home warranty's.
  10. The owners that owned the house before us made a movie. Its all about how to introduce dogs to your babies or vice versa.
  11. V8 stopped making their pina coloda drink. BUMMER.
  12. We found a perfect spot on the backyard to start a vegetable garden.

So much more to write!

Round 2

Welcome to our living room!! Sorry for the dim lighting in the picture but was like 11pm when I took this shot.

New bedroom rug, which I love and gives our bedroom an almost beachy feel. I love it because it reminds me of the island and makes me feel like I have a little bit of it in my own house.

Allen setting up his espresso machine. I see whats important here.... :)
Still a lot more to go, and our "Love Jesus move your friends Party on Saturday." More to unpack today!
