Good stories to come!

Sneak Peak

Here is a sneak peak of our front porch!! WE LOVE IT! We drove up to the house yesterday at 5pm and the sellers were frantically trying to leave! I asked them if they needed any help and that they didn't need to rush. I told them could have more time if they needed it. They said they were just leaving and making sure our one of our new neighbors had our phone numbers in case she needs it. She is an elderly woman that has lived in the neighborhood since she was 4 years old and sometimes needs help with things, like replacing a porch light or moving heavy things. I would love to meet her and hear about the neighborhood and how she has seen it change throughout the generations.

The two chairs are not ours, this picture was taken before the sellers moved so they took those with them, and left everything else! We added some cute paisley outdoor pillows and I want to put a new welcome mat out. Maggie loves it! She ran around the front yard sniffing everything and she went crazy running throughout the house and the back yard. I can't wait to play with her in the back yard and just give her a space that is much more dog friendly.

We unlocked the front door together both giving each other these super wide, silly, excited grins about our new home. I have such hope-God-filled dreams for this home and I know Allen does too! The sellers had left a beautiful bouquet of spring flowers on the kitchen counter along with a gift which was so thoughtful and sweet. We both wish that we could have met them before this encounter. They were very very cool people.

We took a few trips last night from one house to another and plan on doing the same the rest of the week. Tonight a good friend is coming over to help and then we are going to eat a yummy meal and hang out.

Life is good.

Praise God.

A week of moving

MOVING MONDAY!! and Tuesday and Wednesday and ....you get the picture. We are so excited to unlock the door to our first house today!! We went over last night and took some cupcakes to the sellers in a sort of " Good luck on your move to New York City!" they were not there, and our new neighbor was looking at us funny (probably because we were peering in the windows to see the inside of our beautiful new home) so we quickly left.

I am so lucky to have such good friends that come over late to help us pack our dishes or let us use their cars so that we can make trips in bigger cars. Saturday is our moving party day for the big stuff ( couches, headboards, dressers, dining room tables etc.) and so our goal this week is to move fragile items, clothing and decorative pieces. I lay in bed at night trying to will myself to sleep but all I can think of is paint colors and arrangement of furniture!

Happy Monday for sure!!

it's official

crunch time has arrived. If I had that cake in my hands I would eat it in 2 seconds flat. I am stressed.

without a purpose

It is about to be april. April showers bring May flowers....the roses outside our bedroom window are absolutley gorgeous. Last night the outside lights were shining on them and it was like a show. It took my breath away...the dark night, the soft pink of the petal and the clear light was so special. I think it was a moment between me and God.

I am excited for April. I am happy with March. March was good to us. March provided challenges. March provided growth. April will be full of suprises I think. I am excited about birthdays and babys and photo shoots and Easter.

T-Bone

My mom is in town AGAIN this weekend for a friends daughters wedding. JOY. We had a blast yesterday afternoon playing around Atlanta and then taking her out to a fabulous dinner. We laughed so much and laughter really is so incredibly good for your heart. While we were telling stories at dinner I found out something about my mother that I never knew.

Her nickname in high school.
Was
T-Bone.

If you know my mom, she doesn't look like a T-Bone. I asked her if her grand kids could call her that. She said no. I think I might find a way around it :)

Try again

The art of Hiding a bone

Maggie likes to hide her bones. Sometimes she will eat them right away and other times she saves them in a special spot to eat when she feels like it. Its like her little treasure. I think it is really cute and funny while allen does not. I can understand his point of view, I mean who wants to climb into bed after a long hard day of work and find a dog biscuit under the pillow?

One of my favorite things to do and something that totally delights my spirit is to watch her "attempt" to hide her bone. She wanders the house crying loudly trying to find the perfect spot. Once she finds her spot she looks to see if anyone is watching ( i hide behind doors) and then she hides the bone.

The other night, she had a momentary lapse of privacy and put on a show for us while we were sitting on the couch! She gets frustrated because its a slip cover and so she can't adequately hide the bone the way she wants. Sorry for the shaky camera, I couldn't stop laughing.

She is 3 !!

Three years ago our little Maggie was born! WE have loved every minute with her even though she has chewed through cell phones and heating pad cords. We thought we could treat her to a celebratory ice cream ( dog healthy) to let her know we think she is special!

throwin out the to-do list

Dear to -do list,

I have enjoyed you oh so many times. I particularly enjoy you when I feel busy or overwhelmed. I also enjoy your company before i go on a trip or if I am planning an event... I know it may come as a shock to you but I don't really care for you that much any more. You don't really help me that much, to be honest. I know that you have tried to win my heart back with the iphone app but it didn't work. Sorry. Thanks for all the help and organization these past 20 or so years! I have decided I enjoy my life a lot more without you lurking behind every page of my planner or on my refrigerator door.
Sincerely,
W

* super looking forward to this weekend. Things like: making pancakes in the morning or blueberry muffins for my cousin and his girlfriend that just moved back to town. Helping said cousin and girlfriend move into apartment, sleep, lots of sleep and celebrating maggie's birthday with all the things she loves like- running in the park, riding in the backseat with the windows down and doggie ice cream. Hopefully the rain will ease up, but I am okay with pjs and movies this weekend too!*

use your imagination

So today we were teaching about the Panama Canal. We have maps and textbooks and drawing to show the kids how the Panama Canal is this amazing thing. We also have videos that are updated to show kids how the locks work, how ships are getting bigger and bigger so that one day the Panama Canal might be obsolete.

Today was a day we showed the video. As the students were getting settled in to their desks and lights were being turned off, I noticed a child up at the front moving his hand back and forth from his mouth to his waist. I asked him what he was doing. He said, " I am eating popcorn, like at the movies." I loved that. It made me laugh because I honestly think that only a kid would do that. Every now and again adults have relapses and act like kids.

I vote for more relapses in 2010

My prayer

The world is a needy place; do not go there for sustenance. Instead, come to ME. Learn to depend on ME alone, and your weakness will become saturated with MY power. When you find your completeness in ME, you can help other people without using them to meet your own needs. Live in the Light of My presence, and your light will shine brightly into the lives of others.

- devotional from Sarah Young

But what happens when we live God's way? He brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchard—things like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity. We develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people. We find ourselves involved in loyal commitments, not needing to force our way in life, able to marshal and direct our energies wisely. Galatians 5:22

Do not judge

" Since God has so generously let us in on what he is doing, we're not about to throw up our hands and walk off the job just because we run into occasional hard times. We refuse to wear masks and play games. We don't maneuver and manipulate behind the scenes. And we don't twist God's word to suit ourselves. Rather we keep everything we do and say out in the open, the whole truth on display, so that those who want to can see and judge for themselves in the presence of God!

2 cor 4:1

This morning I kept hearing the phrase " do not judge" in my thoughts and also in my heart. I really honestly believe it is part of a response from God about a relationship that I have been praying about for the past few months. I have such a peace. I have such a freedom. I have such a joy! I am sure that Satan hates that and will do whatever he can to take it away, because after all that is what he does. Praise God that I am protected! Praise God that HIS peace is EVERLASTING! In the past week I have had people try and manipulate myself and situations, twist the word of God and wear masks. How BIG is God that after all of that -- he tells me "Do not judge!"

I am so glad that I am loved by such an amazing God. He is so personal! His words this morning breathed life into my heart! I know that there are times when God has spoken to me about judging and I have responded with a whine and defended my cause again- one that would allow judgement to occur. Not this time. This time I am running to HIM and I am smiling. God is GOOD. God is GOOD.

The End.
