Snow falling already!

Sunday.

Today I have:

organized the changing table (sorta)
sorted through baby M's clean clothes and put away
watched Shrek 2
watched the snow fall from the living room window
enjoyed the smell of my Christmas tree scented candle
enjoyed the twinkle lights on my mantle and Christmas tree

currently waiting on my sweet husband to come home so we can let the dogs out to watch them be perplexed by the snow.

Orders for Bed Rest

After spending the evening in Labor and Delivery at Piedmont Hospital with constant monitoring of my blood pressure I have been put on bed rest until Monday afternoon (when I see my OB next).

So that means....

No taking the dog to the vet (as I had planned)
No Christmas tree shopping
No Christmas gift shopping (trying to get ahead of the game in case baby M comes early)
No washing baby clothes
No vacuuming
No re-arranging the guest room
No driving around looking at Christmas lights
No taking the dogs to the dog park

I mean I know allen can help with some, but no one wants to be given a 'to-do' list on their weekend time. My plan is to make a "to do" list and then weeding out the un-necessary ones. I am really hoping that Monday the doctor will give me the all clear to go back to work until further notice. Here is to hoping!

Health Update

A quick health update on my sweet little sister, Lanier. She has been staying at the local hospital back home having tests run to see what could be the culprit. So far all tests have come back negative which is good and bad. Good that they are not finding anything, bad that she is still in pain and there seems to be no relief. She heads home today for a break and then back to the hospital tomorrow morning for a procedure that requires her to be put to sleep. Thank you for all the prayers for Lanier and my family, please continue to lift them up if the Lord brings them to your mind.

Thanksgiving in Pictures

I did a lot of this over Thanksgiving break. My husband, this baby and my family kept me laughing all the time. It was wonderful. We slept in, we ate badly, we watched movies and talked about baby names and rode around looking at Christmas lights. It was a wonderful last Thanksgiving before life changes as we know it. I hope yours was amazing as well!

Gobble Gobble

I now can say I look like a butter ball turkey. Yippie. Braxton Hicks contractions have started and I say "bring it on." I am so ready to meet this little person and give him/her a name, smell the baby scent and pour out love upon it!

Happy Monday!!

When it rains it poors...

Like the old saying says "when it rains it poors"

Here is an example taken from our life over the past week:

1. We found evidence of a rodent
2. We found mold in our crawl space
3. Someone hit my parked car
4. Our dishwasher broke
5. Our back door broke

There are many blessings to praise the One for ....

1. We found the DEAD rodent today right after I called an exterminator. Saved us about 200 bucks in an inspection.
2. The mold is not black mold but it does need to be taken care of. The winter ( if we could ever have one) is a time where mold does not tend to grow as much so we are not going to be shelling out the big bucks tomorrow.
3. My car was parked and I was not it in, so in NO WAY is it my fault.
4. We called the manufactuer and they sent us 2 free parts. My husband aka Mr. Fix-it can do the rest.
5. We replaced the problem with a 20 dollar repair from Home Depot.

ps my spell check does not work so excuse my poor grammer/spelling.

Kid Sister

My little sister is spending the day at the hospital today to get a biopsy done on her kidneys...if you think about her please say a little prayer that she will not be nervous and recover quickly. Also pray that the doctors can find results and help her get better. Lanier is pretty awesome. She has the best laugh and gives great hugs.

Happy Weekend

Whose feet are these?

This is about normal for the end of my work day.
Look at MY FEET! Holy Moly!! I cannot wait to see the bones in my feet again. Ususally over the weekend I can but during the work week, forget it!

Words

You know that old saying "sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me"
I can remember my mom talking to me when I was little and telling me to repeat this phrase when anyone would make fun of me or hurt my feelings. I remember it very well.

I wish that I had remembered it during this season of pregnancy....here are a few comments that people have made over the past 8 months:

" Looks like you have been eating a lot of pizza these days"

"wow you look so tired, are you due any day? I can tell your pregnant because your nose is spreading"

" Is that all baby?"

"You are starting to look pregnant. For a while you were just looking lumpy"

"Is that all baby or did you go to a buffet?"

" Are you having twins?"

"What are you feeding that baby?"

Some of the comments have been made by my co-workers or strangers even. The ones that have hurt the most are the ones by family or friends. I don't understand how someone can think it is okay to say such hurtful comments to someone who actually has a valid reason for gaining weight. I know that some of the comments that were said to me would NEVER be said to an overweight person or a fat person. This season of carrying a child is supposed to be one of joy and fun and love and excitement. And Praise the Good Lord that it has been. I have been down for a minute when comments have been said to me but the Lord has not allowed others to steal my joy. Praise that Lord that my husband has nothing but love towards me and my growing belly.

Last night we went to a class at our hospital on brith. It was really awesome to be in a room surrounded by pregnant women and their supporters. Our teacher was a sweet woman that I would love to have in the room with me during our child's actual birth. She said something that I believe is very true and very encouraging. She said that anyone can have a baby naturally if you are not afraid. If you do not fear childbirth. I am not saying that someone shouldn't get the drugs but I do believe that many women are afraid of birth. That fear I believe can hinder many (including myself) in allowing our bodies to do what God created them to do naturally. Anyways, overall it was a great experience. I couldn't stop crying during the video when the three women were rewarded for their hard effort and three beautiful babies were born. I am not "ready" for the big day but I am so ready to hold this child of mine, gaze into it's eyes, share this amazing experience with my loving husband, best friend and partner. Ahh!! A dream is coming true!

Sarah Grace

I am so looking forward to this weekend! Time spent with one of my best friends and her family. When we were in college I remember always going to Sarah Grace when I needed a hug. She gives the best hugs ever. I have loved watching her fall in love with her now husband, becoming a wife, becoming a mother and all the while staying the good friend that God provided for me during some crazy times at Auburn. Here's to a weekend of fun, family and good food!

Dear Starbucks

Dear Starbucks and Mom,

First let me thank Starbucks for providing your Delicious Holiday drinks.I also want to thank you for the red cups. I only like a few of the drinks, but the peppermint hot chocolate really helps me warm up on a cold morning when I am driving to work with wet hair and the windows down to help my hair dry faster.

And mom, thank you so much for the gift card to Starbucks. You knew that I couldn't spend the money on the small treat of a hot chocolate but you know how much it puts a smile on my face. Thank you for giving up your gift card so I can have a little cheer. I hope that I can be that selfless with my children.

Love,
The peppermint hot chocolate with extra whip lover

Weekend Faves and Photo from the Past

Weekend Faves:
1. Sitting beside the fire last night with Allen, watching a movie and enjoying a bowl of popcorn

2. Enjoying a caramel apple with allen Saturday afternoon while listening to bad karaoke singing to Beyonces "all my single ladies"

3. The time change

4. Realizing how much my husband loves me when I had to ask him to put my boots on my feet and tuck my jeans in my boots after trying on dresses at TJ max and Marshalls

5. Waking up this morning and snuggling under the warm covers with my sweet husband....

This is a picture of my beautiful Gram and sister and my sweet cousin Matt. He was just turning 8 years old when this was taken. He is now in middle school! I love having a big family and just am so blessed when we have opportunities that bring us together!

A trip to South America

I love this picture. It might be one of my favorite of Allen and I in the past 5 years. On a mission trip to Peru, we made a stop at a local market to take in God's glory in the Andes Mountains. I am so thankful that we were able to share this trip and of it's memories together.

A glimpse into the past

Recently I came across several photos from my experiences at Auburn, trips to Romania, Italy, and Ireland. I am going to post some pictures this next week just to remember and to take a trip down my own memory lane. I have always been a nostalgic person and these pictures remind of a time past, a time that is so completely different than where I am now and where my future looks like.

This photo was taken off a bridge in Dublin, Ireland summer 2004

Peppermint Milkshake

I discovered something last year with the help of my sweet toothed husband. It is the peppermint milkshake at Chick-fil-a.

I have a feeling that today I am going to introduce our baby to this holiday delight.

Thank goodness for Fridays and thank goodness for husbands and thank goodness for babies and thank goodness for peppermint milkshakes!

No tea, No pjamas

So in follow up to my previous post - I had no tea, no pj's and no roaring fire. It was cold enough outside to have the fire but that never happened.

I did come home, take care of the dogs, fold some laundry, deal with a few tidying up issues and then I put myself to bed. I slept from 5pm-7pm with just a few minor interruptions. I went back to bed 2 hours later. Just the other day I thought to myself " I feel great for being in my 3rd trimester..." Thoughts thought too soon I suppose. I am so tired. Right now I am tired and it is only 9:18am. I am not trying to complain, I am thankful for the naps I can occasionally take on a Tuesday afternoon or a Sunday afternoon but it makes being motivated to get other things done SO much harder.

Maybe tonight I can get the night I wanted. Maybe. It doesn't look to promising but here is to being hopeful.

Baby Face

This was taken Saturday around noon. I got to feed rice cereal to one of my best friends babies.
She was really into it...or maybe it was just the spoon, but like her mama she has some strength.
Look at that face. I could melt. I love her so much already.

Tuesday, November 2, 2010

Pj's and a hot tea

I could really go for the following:

A hot cup of earl grey

A comfy pair of Pajamas

No one at my house except for me

The fire in the fire place roaring

I think that sounds like a perfect day. I would love for that to happen. Maybe that can happen this evening. I just have this problem. I get home and I see problems. I see dog hair on the carpet so I need to vacuum, I see dirty dishes in the sink so I groan and start to wash them, I see dogs that need to be fed, I see laundry that needs to be folded and once it is folded it needs to be put away. I see clothes that are on the bathroom floor and need to go in the laundry. I do not know how it is this unending cycle of cleaning. Don't get me wrong, I don't get on my hands and knees and scrub the tub every night because I definitely don't do that.

There is always a running list though. I get overwhelmed thinking about this, even right now as I type. I hope that today I don't get so overwhelmed when I get home. I hope that I can go home and focus on one or two things and then relax. We will see...

The bigger the Excitment

The bigger I seem to get! We are getting closer to the due date....9 more weeks to go until 40 weeks, but I know that this little babe can arrive anytime after 37 weeks. Allen wants the baby to come before Christmas. I would like the baby to come after Christmas, selfishly just so husband and I can have one more Christmas just us. I would preferably not have the baby on Christmas Eve (allen is working 6 services at the church) or Christmas Day, but OF COURSE I will be totally thrilled anytime Jr./Jrette makes the grand appearance!

I keep trying to picture everything. I can picture us holding the baby, counting it is fingers and toes, being at home with the baby, nursing, putting it's tiny clothes on it etc. I however cannot picture delievering the baby. Putting the baby in the carseat and driving away from the hospital. Walking in our house with a newborn. What a surreal experience that will be.
Baby M's nursery is almost 100% complete. My "nesting" instinct hasn't kicked in because our basement would be organized, laundry would be done, dogs would be groomed etc. Lets' hope it kicks in!!

In other news what is up with this fake fall weather? I woke up to 75 degrees outside and humid. Hello? October? Where did you go? I enjoyed you briefly for about 5 days and then you became moody and can't make up your mind. Please talk to November and let her know she has to be cold. I do not want to eat turkey and stuffing in 75 degrees weather. That is just not cool. No pun intended...

Miracle of Miracles

Yesterday husband was outstandingly sweet and came over to the couch to rub my feet. He pulled of my socks and said in complete shock " Your feet! They are not swollen!" I looked on in disbelief....he was right. My feet were cute! They were tiny! They were normal!!

I don't know what act of Science or Love made that happen but it was an awesome sight to behold....

Pregnancy Cravings....or lack there of

The following foods I do not want to eat either at all or I have barely eaten during this fun season of pregnancy:

- fish

- beef (as in cheeseburger, steak, etc)

- strawberries (used to be absolute favorite fruit)

- granola bars

- Chinese food

-Mexican food

The following foods I have loved to eat anytime....
- olives

-chips ( i have outgrown that phase, but it lasted at least a month)

- fried shrimp

- apples

- pasta

- taco bell ( i know its bad)

- Orange juice

-apple juice

- red chewy candies (like sour patches)

It has been a food adventure to see what I can't get enough of and what totally turns my stomach. Allen took me to a beautiful romantic dinner in the mountains recently and I ordered something that sounded so amazing. Lavender crusted Atlantic salmon, garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus. More than half my meal went home in a doggie bag never to be touched again. I took one bite of the fish and my stomach turned. I ate most of my mashed potatoes because it was the only thing that I could handle. Silly me for forgetting I have maybe eaten one piece of fish so far during my pregnancy.

Then take this morning for example. I think I finished a carton of orange juice all by myself. I stood in front of the fridge and drank out of the carton I was so thristy. I NEVER do that. I got to work 45 minutes later and was asking a co-worker if she knew anyone that had orange juice they would share....crazy.

I have always enjoyed food but this has been interesting. More often than not, I can only think of things that I do not want instead of things that I just have to have. However, tonight, I have to have some fried shrimp.

The early bird gets the worm

Up early enough this morning to watch the sky turn from black to dark blue to grey blue to pinkish blue

Up early enough this morning to get to Starbucks before all the good tiny treats were purchased

Up early enough this morning to get a treat and fill my car up with gas before arriving to school

Up early enough this morning to to know that by 2:30 pm I will feel like it is 4:30 pm.

I walked into my school building this morning and there was hardly anyone around. A few people were putting up bulletin boards, a few people were unlocking their classroom doors and I felt this feeling. The feeling of loving being a teacher. Of coming to work every day in a classroom with pencil sharpeners and white boards and construction paper bulletin boards. It was a good feeling.

I am so happy that it is Thursday. One day closer to this weekend. The weekends are always filled with such hope and promise. Time to spend with just Allen. Time to sleep in. Time to do things that I don't have time to enjoy during the week, like going to the park, being creative in the kitchen or being lazy with my husband. JOY.

Happy Thursday!

In the eyes of a child.....

A former 6th grader, now 7th grader just informed me of something. The conversation went something like this...

kid: You look chubby

me: I am chubby.

oh to see the world through the eyes of a child....oh wait, I already do!

Proud Mama

I can't wait to meet our little one!!

A day of Blessing

What a beautiful day. I was overwhelemed with the love of my family and friends from near and far. More than anything, I am so grateful for people in my life that care about this baby. That fills my heart with more pure joy than anything else.
More info and pictures to come later.

Words to get me through today

" I LOVE YOU with an everlasting love. The human mind cannot comprehend My constancy. Your emotions flicker and falter in the face of varying circumstances, and you tend to project your fickle feelings onto Me. Thus, you do not benefit fully from My unfailing love.

You need to look beyond the flux of circumstances and discover Me gazing lovingly back at you. This awareness of My Presence strengthens you, as you receive and respond to My love. I am the same yesterday, today and forever! Let My love flow into you continually. Your need for Me is as constant as the outflow of My loved to you.

Jeremiah 31:3
Exodus 15:13

Baby Names....

So we have a boy name picked out. For sure. Is a definate. If I knew we were having a little boy I could go get a monagramed pillow today.

The girl is a different story. I used to have a zillion girls names. But now, names that I used to like like Audrey are no longer interesting to me. I think it is a pretty name but I don't want to use it.

I am also having trouble with a middle name for the girl. We wanted to use Lovell (family name) or Howell (family name) but I am finding that with some names that we like it just doesn't work or it is a mouthful when you put Morrison behind it.

I need some help. Any good girl names out there?

Weekend Favs Part II

So more favorite things. We found a pub off of Peachtree that had a HUGE menu and some wonderful food. Allen opted for the brunch selection and I enjoyed my grilled chicken sandwich and garlic fries. OH and with an ice cold coke! So fun! We enjoyed the fresh air and the busy streets with people all around.
Sunday allen decided to hop on the roof and cut some tree limbs down and sweep off the roof. Here is what part of it looked like when he was done.
I love this picture. Allen was hard at work but I made him stop and smile. Too bad you can't see the smile but its an awesome picture all the same.

Ta Da!! The finished porch once cleaned and leaves gone :)

Here is Eli, trying to fill my shoes. He is such a cute puppy. Like to jump too much and always gets in trouble with Maggie (he steals her rawhide, and she steals it right back) but so sweet and loving.
We ended with a dinner out at our local pizza parlor. Such good food and company. I love the twinkle lights and the outdoor atmosphere.

Such a FUN blessed weekend with my love!

Weekend Favs Part I

Here are some weekend favs in no order (of favorite to least) but in order from Sunday to Friday. Sunday was a huge day of productivity. Go figure!! I got lots done and so did Allen. One of the biggest accomplishments was laundry. Lots of it. Cleaned, dried and folded!! Now to just put it away :) That always seems to be the hardest part.
Saturday we walked around downtown, found a new restaurant that we loved, enjoyed a coffee (A) and a small hot chocolate (me) and took in the fresh fall weather with the beautiful fall flowers.
Friday I spent some time with a good friend after work. We sat outside and watched her son play in the back yard while her other child took a nap. We talked about husbands, belly's, in-laws, babies etc. It was sooo good to see her. Patrick, her son offered me some addictive chez-its which I had to say yes to. Look at that face!

Needed some sparkle in my life

The other day I decided I needed a little bit of sparkle in my life at our house. I love things that are glittery or that twinkle. I decided against throwing silver confetti everywhere so I opted for some twinkly lights on our mantel over the fireplace. I love it so..... its romantic and whimsical and somehow festive to me.

26 weeks and a Vacation

ahhh!! our baby!! its so neat to see inside the womb because there is no other way for us to take a peak to make sure everything is going good. This picture you can see the umbilical cord across the baby's chin and its little hand and fingers resting on its forehead. I LOVE this child!!!
This is a profile picture in 2 D and then a version of our sweet baby in 4 D. Gotta love that face..
We are on a much needed vacation and its is so nice so far. No plans, no to do lists just enjoying each other and our time together!

What if...

I dressed up my dog? Maggie would look good in this two piece outfit, but I don't think thats happening anytime soon.

**photo taken from target

A weekend to look forward tooooooooo.....

This weekend it a weekend to look forward to. I have stared it on my calender. I have made to do lists, grocery lists, cleaning lists etc.

My mom arrives tonight to hang out, catch up and help us tackle the challenge of the guest bedroom. We are also going to get a head start on the nursery. I am hoping for lots of laughs, good food, watching movies in our pajamas and productivity.

Tonight we are enjoying steaks on the grill, healthy sides and most definitely a dessert.

Saturday we are planning picking up the crib + mattress, assembling the new guest bed, re-arranging some furniture, spray painting a few things and hopefully hanging some curtains. Dinner is TBD but I know that it will involve good conversation and good food.

Sunday my little sister is coming into town to play, feel the baby kick and help with the nursery. I can't wait to see her and giver her a big hug. I miss her laugh.

Yesterday on the way home from work I encountered a craving that I very rarely have. Coldstone. I am not the biggest fan of ice cream so expensive rich ice cream is way lower on my "want" list of sweets to eat. I said no to my craving and headed home to take care of the dogs and search for a healthy snack. I made it home before Allen so I called him on his cell and said "can you pick me up a snack? like a chick fa la Oreo milkshake?" (ps i never know how to spell chick fa la) So much for that healthy snack idea. He said he could and that is when I told him I really wanted coldstone but felt bad about going so far to get it. His response " well lets go! I will pick you up and we can go get an ice cream" My heart melted. My knight in shining armor. So i put on a new shirt, a little make up and informed the puppy's that I was the luckiest pregnant woman around

At coldstone and our walk around Atlantic Station I saw the following:
--a woman with her shirt halfway down. Her bra was nothing special but she felt the need to show it off.

-- a man humping a woman from behind in the coldstone line

-- a man wearing a uncle sam's hat and a long white shirt that resembled a nightgown

So we got dessert and a show all before dinner!! It was a great precourser to this weekend.

I hope you have a fabulous one too!

6 months

We are 6 months pregnant and growing!! WE couldn't be more thrilled about this little bundle of joy. We have been taking weekly photos to see the growing belly on our digital camera but I can't seem to find that allows the pictures to uploaded on to the computer. So here are some from this morning at work on my Iphone.

Its really hard to take a good picture with one hand and get a belly shot.

Yay for babies!! We got some cute things last night for bambino at a local baby store. This weekend my family is coming up to Atlanta to help put together some of the nursery and finish the guest room. I can't wait to share this weekend with them!!
love from mama and baby!

More to love

A few photos from our life recently: A southern lunch at famous Willy's Weenie Wagon. Don't judge by the name....judge by the way the food tastes, the local owners and the ambiance. A must eat! A date night with allen at a local art museum. These women where sitting in the room with an open bar (none for me!) and a jazz band. They made me laugh.
My gorgeous husband. How good looking is our baby gonna be if I am married to this man!!

Our sweet puppy Eli. He is so dark its hard to see his face but you can't help but fall in love with it. And he ALWAYS smells like maple syrup. I have no idea why, part of his charm!

In BABY news: Doctors visit yesterday to check everything and she said I am looking good! Baby is right on target and so am I!! So praise God!!

The 6th grade hallway

On our way back from lunch today I saw another teacher talking with a student, checking out her arm and then sending her back to class. It was then and there that I realized I am:

A teacher
A mentor
A nurse
A friend
A mom
A caretaker
A leader
A mediator

Teaching is so rewarding, even on days like today where I am just exhausted and have nothing left to give. I am so glad that God directed my feet this way....

Baby Names

So here are a few baby names that I LOVE but am not planning on using.....

BOYS:

But you know, I could change my mind on the way home from work or when I see the baby's face!

addicted and a list

A list of love, of things I am loving right now in random order:

1. olives
2. pickles
3. the idea of fall
4. breakfast for dinner
5. waking up late on Saturday
6. Our preachers sermons
7. hot chocolate
8. looking at baby stuff online
9. writing letters
10. catching up friends via emails (because it is so hard to find time somehow any other way)
11. getting to know our puppy's mellow side
12. my sweet husband

My MOST favorite thing of all though is feeling our baby move around. I can't even describe it except to say that it is purely joyful. I love this child already so much and I am so excited about that love abounding once we see his or her sweet little face.

My husband has gotten me addicted to something. That something is the show 24. I didn't even consider watching it when it was on regular nighttime TV but now, our netflix has become our cable. Good thing too because our cable company isn't worth the money. I started on season 3 and we are now starting season 5. Those writers really knew what they were doing. Its such a good show! Our weekend we spent a lot of time together hanging out, enjoying each others company and watching 24. It was time well spent!
